Materials
- Yarn – medium weight 4 worsted yarn. I used Crafting Acrylic in 2 colors. I used 50 – 75 g white & 10 g black
- Hook – 5 mm or recommended hook
- Tapestry needle – to weave in the ends
- Scissors – to cut your yarn
- Stitch Markers (optional)
- Hot Glue (optional if you don’t want to sew the face on)
Gauge
13 dc x 9 rows = 4 in x 4 in
Abbreviations
This pattern uses US crochet terms.
ch = chain
sc = single crochet
hdc = half double crochet
dc = double crochet
tr = treble crochet
inc = increase
st = stitch
sl st = slip stitch
sp = space
mc = magic circle
Important Pattern Notes
- This pattern is worked in rounds worked from top down
- The finished size may vary slightly depending on yarn weight and tension
- Starting chain on each round does not count as a stitch
- Stitch count listed at the end of each round is in parentheses
- If you have trouble with the magic circle, chain 4 and join to the first chain made with a slip stitch to form a ring
- Stitch chart is included for the eyes and mouth
- To make your hat brim more ruffley, you can add more dc inc to the brim rows
