Hi there! I am super excited to share this Adjustable Triangle Bikini crochet pattern with you today! What is more stylish than making your very own crochet bikini, in any yarn and color you like? Also one that is made to fit your body!
As someone with bigger hips and a lil booty, it is so HARD for me to find bikini bottoms that fit. Like for some reason, I can never get any that fit – ever! I try all the styles, I try all the sizes, but nothing works out for me.
For that reason, I decided I wanted to create my own bikini with crochet for my upcoming trip to Hawaii. This free pattern is super customizable, so you can make it as showy and cheeky as you like, or more modest if you prefer. The adjustable straps also are great for making sure that your bikini stays in place, even if you get it wet!
I am really thrilled how my Adjustable Triangle Bikini came out and it was such a quick and easy make. I hope that you enjoy this pattern as much as I do. 🙂
Let’s get started!

Measurements
This pattern is made-to-measure! You can create it in any size using your own measurements. I am usually a size L & created my example to fit me. I will share those measurements with you.
Materials
- Yarn – you can use any yarn you like! I used around 250 yards/ 150 g of weight 4 cotton yarn – Loops and Threads Classic Cotton in the color Key Lime. For size L I needed 3 skeins, but for a size small or medium you may only need 2. I barely used any of the 3rd skein.
- Hook – you can use any size hook that is appropriate with your yarn choice. I used a 4 mm for this example. You will also want a smaller hook if you are adding beads. I recommend a size 3 mm hook
- Scissors
- Alphabet Beads (OPTIONAL) – I got mine from Amazon in the size 6 mm.
Abbreviations
Sl st = slip stitch
Ch = chain
Sc = single crochet
Hdc = half double crochet
Dc = double crochet
Dec = decrease
Inc = increase
Pattern Notes
- This pattern uses US crochet terms.
- This pattern includes simple increase and decrease stitches.
- Increase stitch is where you add 2 stitches into the same stitch.
- Decrease stitch is where you turn 2 stitches into one.
- The ch 2 at the beginning of the row does not count as a stitch.
Bikini Top
Make 2 cups.
Row 1: create a chain that reaches the width of your breast. This will be the bottom of your cup. Ch 2 more and turn. Mine was 21 + 2. The ch 2 is your turning chain and does not count as a stitch. Dc in the 3rd ch from hook and all the way across. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 2-6: Dc in each stitch across, ch 2 and turn.
We will now start to decrease.
Row 7: Dc dec, then dc across until you have 2 stitches left. Dc dec. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 8-end: Repeat row 7 until you reach the top of the triangle. Depending on your initial stitch count, your last row may have 2 or 3 stitches. If you have 2 stitches left, do a final dc dec. If you have 3 stitches left, do one more dec in all stitches. Do not cut yarn.
Neck Strap: Ch 130, turn and sl st in first chain from hook and all the way back. Do not cut yarn.
Edge: Sc evenly around the edge of the cup until you get back to the top. Sl st and tie off yarn.
Waist Strap
Ch 200, sl st in first chain from hook and then in each chain all the way across. Cut and tie off yarn.
Add Letter Beads (OPTIONAL): Using your 3 mm hook, put your hook through the first letter. Then grab the last stitch on your waist strap and pull through the bead. Repeat until all your letters are added. Center your letters into the middle of the strap.
Weaving the Strap: Weave the cups onto your strap now, 1 on each side of the letter beads. I weaved mine in the bottom row between every 3rd sc stitch.
Bikini Bottoms
This is made in 2 parts, the front and the back. You will start in the bottom crotch and work out so you will be able to add as many rows as you need to get your desired fit. We will start with the front.
Row 1: Ch 10 + 2. This ch 2 will be your turning chain and does not count as a stitch. Hdc in the 3rd chain from hook, and in each chain across. (10) ch 2 and turn.
Row 2-8: Hdc in each st across, ch 2 and turn.
Now we will start increasing.
Row 9: Hdc increase in the first st, hdc in each stitch across until you reach the 2nd from last stitch. Hdc increase in that stitch, then do 1 hdc in the last stitch. You will be increasing in that penultimate stitch and not the last one, as this creates a more even edge. Ch 2 and turn.
Row 10: Hdc in each st across, ch 2 and turn.
Repeat rows 9 & 10 until you reach your desired length, from crotch to waist. For mine, I did 24 more rows for a total of 34 rows since I like mine to be high-waisted. Tie off yarn.
Now we will start on the back.
Connect your yarn to the original ch, at the crotch section of the front piece.
Row 1: Hdc in each st across, ch 2 and turn.
Row 2: Hdc increase in the first st, hdc in each stitch across until you reach the 2nd from last stitch. Hdc increase in that stitch, then do 1 hdc in the last stitch. You will be increasing in that penultimate stitch and not the last one, as this creates a more even edge. Ch 2 and turn.
Repeat rows 1 & 2 until you reach your desired length. I recommend doing 4 more rows than you did on the front piece. So I ended with 38 rows total on the back. If you want a more cheeky style, you can stop doing increases about halfway up and continue adding straight edge rows. Do not cut yarn. Sc evenly around the edge of your bikini bottoms. Sl st and tie off yarn.
Bottom Straps
Make 2.
Ch 200, sl st in first chain from hook and then in each chain all the way across. Cut and tie off yarn.
Weaving the Strap: Weave 1 strap each though the front and back panels of your bikini bottom. I weaved mine in the top row between every 3rd sc stitch.
Weave in your ends and you’re done!
