🧶🦣 Welcome! 🦣🧶
Today I am sharing with you my favorite tried-and true bucket hat pattern! I love this pattern because it works up very quick and is a perfect way to use up some extra scrap yarn laying around the house. It has the beautiful standard shape of bucket hats that you would get from a store, but with that beautiful artisan touch of ✨crochet✨.
Bucket hats are such a fun project with a great pay off. I get that surge of dopamine from completing a project within an hour or two. Plus, I love that hats are generally a one-size fits all make which is great for markets and craft shows!
This pattern allows for a lot of color customization. I am getting ready for July 4th so I went with a patriotic color combination of red and white, but the possibilities are endless! I think that this hat would look so cute with a stripe of variegated yarn in the middle.
You may sell the finished product as long as I am credited for the pattern. Do not copy and publish this pattern as your own.

Measurements
I have included instructions for size S, M, and L. The circumference of the top of the hat is what will determine the size. You can decrease the top rows to make the hat smaller, or increase rows to make it larger.
Materials
- worsted weight, or size 4 yarn in 2 colors. I used white and red
- 5 mm hook
- tapestry needle to weave in the ends
- scissors to cut your yarn
Abbreviations
Sl st = Slip Stitch
Ch = Chain
DC = Double crochet
Flo = front loop only
Blo = back loop only,
Inc = increase
Pattern Notes
- This pattern uses US crochet terms
- The circumference of the circle should match the circumference of the crown of your head, or whoever you are making the hat for
- The numbers in parentheses() are the different stitch counts for size S, M, L.
- The ch 2 at the beginning of the round does NOT count as a stitch
- to work an increase, you will do 2 dc into the same stitch
- repeat in brackets []
- A size M fits me perfectly, and my husband can wear it too!
Let’s get started!
