Welcome back to my blog! Today I am sharing this cute springtime Flower Garland pattern! I wanted to make something to make the house feel more like a home this season and I thought that a simple floral decoration would be perfect! I created flowers and leaves and added them to a chain, how simple is that! Since I’ve made my Flower Garland, my sister has already placed her order with me for hers. I’m working on it sis 😉
This free Flower Garland pattern is made using Flower and Leaf appliques and then attaching them to a crochet chain. This pattern includes the written instructions with photos along thr way! I also created stitch charts for the appliques and have a video tutorial you can follow along with as well!
Even if you want to just use the applique pattern for something else, I’m sure it will be great! I think the flowers are also great to use as coasters! You can make a set and sell it at your next market too <3

Special Stich
Spiked Slip Stitch
You will make a slip stitch but you will insert your hook into a row or two below the current one you are working in. This will give the stitch a spiked pointed affect.
Let’s get started!
Stitch Chart for Flower Appliqué
The stitch chart is a visual representation of the written instructions. If you can’t read the stitch chart, don’t worry, follow the written directions and you will get the correct result. This is just added for people who prefer stitch charts. 🙂

Written Pattern
Garland
With green, make a chain as long as you want your garland to be.
From there, you can determine how many flowers and leaves you want to make. My garland was 140 chains long, so I left 10 chains on each end and then I wanted 15 chains between each flower.
140 – 10 – 10 = 120
120 / 15 = 8 flowers
I also made 8 leaves and attached them in between the flowers.
You can make yours however you prefer!

Flower
Round 1: With yellow, make a magic circle, ch 3 (counts as a dc), then dc 11 into the magic circle. Sl st to the top of the chain 3. (12)
Round 2: Ch 3 (counts as a dc stitch), dc in the same st. Dc inc in each stitch. Sl st to the top of the chain 3. Fasten off and cut yarn. (24)
Round 3: With the petal color (purple), attach yarn to any stitch. Ch 1 and sc into the same stitch. Sc in each stitch. Sl st to the first sc. (24)

Round 4: Skip the next stitch and then make 7 dc into the next stitch. Skip a stitch and then slip stitch to the next stitch. Repeat all the way around. (48 stitches, 6 petals)

Round 5: Sc in the next 3 stitches. Sc increase. Sc in the next 3 stitches. Then do a spiked sl st into the same sc you sl st in during round 4. See the picture below. Repeat all the way around. Fasten off and cut yarn. (54)

I recommend blocking your flowers to flatten them to shape. The edge will be slightly lifted to create the border.
Leaf
Round 1: With green, chain 9 (counts as a ch 7 and a dc).
Make 2 dc into the third chain from hook. Dc into the next 2 chains. Hdc into the next 2 chains. Sc into the next chain.
Sc 3 times into the last chain and continue working along the other side of the chain. Tip: You can work over your starting yarn tail for this next part.

Sc into the next chain. Hdc into the next 2 chains. Dc into the next 2 chains. Dc 2 times into the last chain (where you have 2 dc already).
Sl st to the top of the ch 2 to join. Fasten off yarn. 1: Attach your yarn at the join of your arm hole. Ch 2, and dc in each stitch. Sl st to the first dc to join. Do not turn your work.

Attaching
Now you can attach your flowers and leaves to your garland chain.
Cut a small 2-3 inch yarn. Weave one end through the back of a flower petal and then through the chain. Tit a knot to attach.
Use the yarn tail of your leaves to tie a knot to the chain.
Weave in all ends and then …

You’re all done!
